I took a nice, peaceful walk in the woods recently. It *was* peaceful, that is, until I got nearer to a meadow and heard all kinds of cheering, like a small soccer game or something was being played for a small all-male audience.

Curious, I walked uphill towards the distinctly masculine sound of men bursting into shouts and whoops. It got louder and louder. Coming Soon

Well it's been awhile since I've posted here. There have, however, been a few exciting things that have happened recently that I would love to share with you. The second is the up coming Sin Cities episode that Trixie and I are in which you can see a preview of here. We had a great time working with Ashley Hames and his crew. God Bless America!!!

I'll have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. One of the biggest things is that today I feel validated. Today I don't feel cheated. Today I feel like the general population of this country has seen through the bullshit that has been thrown in it's eyes for over six years now. Today I feel like great things are STILL possible in this country. I feel like cheap tricks, dirty tactics and hypocritical rhetoric is Soooooooo last year (though I'm sure it is still all the rage in certain circles). I like to hear Republicans starting to admit the new electronic voting process "may" be flawed.

Admitting there is a problem is always the first step in solving it. The Commander in Cheif should know this well from experience yet has never brought it into his political life. Oh yeah, that's right, he never actually went through the program. Well I hope today is a taste of things to come with the resignation of Rumsfeld and the acceptance of it (finally) by GW.

Anywhoo . . . I've always believed in the progressive philosophy and liberal policy. I try not to preach too much, but after the '04 elections and the whole smoke screen of "Values Voters" and the "War on Terror" and W's "MANdate" (he might actually check with his spiritual adviser Ted Haggard as to what a true MAN date is). I am thankful today that America has come out of the 9/11 shell shock and realized how they have been getting screwed and have decided to make a change.

Two years ago I felt betrayed and consumed with pessimism. Today I feel welcomed back into the fold of the American majority and a certain skeptical opimissism that I haven't felt in six years.

Thank you to all that took the time to vote yesterday and waited in long lines and in some cases came back to wait in line to have your voice heard!!! Keep on ROCKIN in the free world!!!

Leaking Pipes
Sorry that I had to duck out of my show within the first few minutes. We had a minor emergency, a leaking hot water heater, that ended up leaving us with no running water for the day. So I had to shut everything down and talk to some plumbers about getting over here and remedying the problem. It ended up being a hurry up and wait situation culminating in wonderful sushi dinner. When the going get's tough, the tough go out for sushi!!! So our plumber dude will be here tomorrow and tonight we'll be without running water.

New Age Dog
My dog seems to have adopted a new fondness for "new age" music. We happened to notice it shortly after we had our Direct TV installed. Trixie really enjoys having some calm and soothing background noise going while she is working which when we noticed that Nico seemed to be enjoying the ambient tunes just as much. We started noticing her curled up next to speakers in the living room or in front of the TV in the bedroom whenever we were tuned into the new age XM station. She seems to be really fond of Audio Visions, a station featuring many songs with harps, flutes, chimes, classical guitars, didgeridoos, rainsticks, sitars, and various animal noises (especially chirping birds).

I'm not sure how this happened. Nico was raised on classic rock, motown, folk, bluegrass, blues, raggae, and heavy doses of psychedelic 60's rock. Maybe she is just getting old or maybe she has finally found a genre that soothes her savage soul. Whatever it is she seems to anticipate and even expect it as part of her daily routine these days. Trixie or I will put it on in the morning and she will curl up wherever it is being played and simly bliss out on it.

Yup, Still Here
Just wanted to make a quick entry to let people know that yes I am still here. I've been having a really good summer so far and have a few things that I'm excited about and hope to be writing about in the next few weeks. I find it hard sometimes to sit down and organize my thoughts in a manner that works for me as a blog entry. It's frustrating sometimes because it is something that I do want to get better at and be able to do on a much more consistant basis. Anyway, be looking for some more posts in the upcoming weeks. I've got a few different things I want to blog about and need to sift through some thoughts and ideas. Hopefully I'll be able to take a little time to do just that in the next few days.

Fun in the Sun
Man we have had some absolutely beautiful weather lately. I was out on my bike the other day with the sun shining, the birdies chirping, flowers blooming, kids out bouncing around on trampolines. It was just one of those Louis Armstrong "Wonderful World" moments right out of a Wal-Mart comercial.

I've been getting a lot of exercise lately, including hitting the gym about 5 times a week. Most of the time I just work on cardio. I like using their machines because I have pretty bad knees and jogging on pavement is a little rough on them. Besides I can get the dish on all the Hollywood celebs in the trashy gossip magazines they have laying around there. I've tried bringing in more heavy reading but can never seem to concentrate with the music that they have playing and all the other distractions. The other day I was on one of the eliptical machines that was right in front of one of the speakers and War Pigs by Black Sabbath came on. Such a great song that I hadn't heard in so long. I think I can safely say that I was the only one in the gym who knew it word for word. I probably looked a little silly grinning and mouthing the lyrics. I actually teared up a bit at the end of the song, though I don't think anyone noticed. It's a little chilling how those lyrics still apply today. I found this little gem on buzzflash. with a vengance!!! I just want to apologize ahead of time for not posting for so long AND for my first posts in months to be such a political rant. But such is life.

I just wanted to say FUCK YOU!!!! to all the people who voted to re-elect President Bush. I know that may seem a little harsh but ya know what . . . FUCK YOU! ! ! ! You all have drastically effected the fate of billions of peoples lives all over the globe. You may say big deal . . . I got my fucking tax cut (during a time of war . . . SUPPORT OUR TROOPS motherfucker!!!) . . . at least gays aren't able to enjoy the rights of everyone else in this society . . . at least we "liberated" a supressed country in the Middle East (while at the same time turning our backs on genocide happening in Africa). . . at least we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here (by pissing off countless millions of would be terrorists and illegally wiretapping and collecting information of millions of innocent Americans (thank you Quest for standing up for us . . . God knows congress won't) Herbert Hoover is mastrubating in his grave (I stole that frome Ed Shultz) I thought Repulicans stood for government not intruding on peoples lives i.e the government that governs the least governs the best). . . Global Warming myth or fact??? Evolution . . . deadly terrorist plot? War on Christmas??? WAR ON CHRISTMAS?!?!?!?!?!? Yes FUCK YOU to all who turned the other cheek while lobbyists bought off YOUR elected officials and FUCK YOU to all who were influenced by the likes of Britney Spears, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sean Hannity instead of people like Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney, and Noam Chomsky. Are you better off today then you were 6 years ago? Better yet is the world better off today than it was 6 years ago? The answer to that is extremely fightening to me.

Okay . . . everybody makes mistakes. It's all part of being human. But what we all need to do is recognize our mistakes and take some action to correct them. So this November I implore you to at least take a look at your Democratic candidates and listen to what they are saying. Ask a few hard questions to any candidate and use a little independent thought to come to some sort of logical conclusion. It's not too late folks . . . we CAN turn this thing around.

RIP Katie Mae
Well our big move is almost complete and slowly but surely boxes are getting unpacked or pushed aside. Tomorrow the old rotting camper that came with my truck is going to the dump and Katie Mae, the '78 VW van that I've owned for 14 years now, is going to the junk yard to be parted out. I'm a little sad to see her go. She hasn't been road worthy for over 5 years now and as much as I think that someday I'll get her running again I think that it's time for me to let go.

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed yet but my freepics page has been updated and has returned to the old static version it used to be. For those of you that miss the dynamic weekly updates which I couldn't seem to keep up with you can see them all here. Pa. Community Celebrates Festivus: "the festivus for the rest of us" This sounds like it would be a blast!!!! Anyway Merry Christmas everybody!!! Trixie is going to drag my heathen ass to church with her toinght. Actually I'm looking forward to it. Hope I don't get struck down by lightning or anything ;-) I'm going to whip up some eggs benedict for Christmas morning and Trixie and I are going to lie in bed, pig out and watch The Polar Express on our new tv (our gift to each other) and maybe even have a few mimosas. Christmas Shopping
Christmas shopping . . . check! Well for the most part at least. Trixie and I spent a few hours downtown today and I picked up gifts for my parents, my brothers and their significant others, and my neices and nephews. Freedom Flashlights for everyone!!! At least for the adults. We went to a smaller locally owned toy store to pick out presents for the kids. They had lots of board games, card games, brain teasers, childrens books, and unique hand puppets. Most of the stuff they carry is simple and old school, not a lot of the electronic mumbo jumbo that seems so prevelant in childrens toys today. The two women running the store were really helpful in pointing out what sort of things would be appropriate for the age groups we were looking for. I don't know why but I always get annoyed by anyone trying to sell me anything. So as soon as they started asking questions and recomending various gifts my gut reaction was to turn and walk out the door. It's not like they were being pushy or anything, just trying to be helpful. I finally gave into their line of questioning a tried to pay attention to what they were saying about the various items. In the end I was glad I did, otherwise we would have been in there for hours trying to figure shit out. We ended up with some great toys that I'm sure will be appreciated. In fact I wouldn't mind having a few of them for myself ;-) And all this without having to step foot int the dreaded mall!!!

Tucker, Tucker Pumpkin Fucker
I love this time of the year. Maybe it's because I'm an October baby or maybe it is just the calmness of knowing that autumn is setting in. Everything seems to slow down a bit in the fall. There are no bees frantically bouncing from one flower to the next gathering their pollen. There are no birds tweedling out their songs at the crack of down trying to catch the attention of a potential mate. Even the sap in the trees slows down as leaves change color and begin gathering on the ground. The pace of everything seems to slow down a notch and things seem to become manageable once again.

So the above picture is part of this weeks gallery update. The real gem from this shoot was the video though. Let's just say I put the PUMP back in pumpkin. It was a pretty fun shoot to do.
